Well I’ve final found some free time to upload a photo of my n-guage railway which I’m building, still loads to do. The photo is a little out of date, I’ll try to post a more up-to-date one tomorrow. Started this build June. So far, it’s been interesting and testing at some parts to learn most of this from scratch. Wiring is been fun & still not finished. Need to buy and wire the motor for the turn table.

Its looks good Andy. Is it going to be DCC or analogue? I have been building up the baseboard for my N gauge project. What size is your board? Martin

metroman, the board size is 1250mm x 650mm I think, its only analogue, till much later then I may convert it to DCC. SkyFire, no legs though, yeah there much more detail to come. Such as buildings, trees, hedges and people. I already have a station, signal box and water tower

I have been doing some more work on the baseboard in the garden shed today, but it was starting to get cold, and I had the heating on in the shed!!. I may get some more work done on Sunday. Once the baseboard is ready I can sort out the track work and the cork track base. Martin

Well I’m back to work tomorrow and have ran out of grass matt so probably won’t be doing any more work to my railway for a while so I thought I’d post the very latest overall photo and a few close ups of some areas. Signal Box Station Tunnel Yes it is the station from build your own model railway Far end Tunnel Andy

Hope you don't get people drving round those half width barriers like they do here when a train is coming. ;D ;D ;D At least you managed to make sue of that station, just wish that the series had kept going.

I also made use of the track; I think it made up most the inner track. Also you can see the brake van from the series, just in the tunnel. Also found out that people no longer stock the grass matt I used. So I am going to have to look for a more wild looking grass for the rest of the hill. I think it would be more realistic too.

Can still get the grass mat out here, at least for now. I agree having wilder looking grass on the hill would look better, can you get the Noch sutff over there, think they have some sort of grass

The grass I had was javis no32. But I can't seem to find it. I didn't want it to look odd by changing to a different noXX stock. The motor I used was PECO PL-11 SIDE-MOUNTED TURNOUT MOTOR. But I have the issue where 1 can't fit near the signal box. So I’ve been looking at fitting a PL10E PECO POINT MOTOR WITH EXT PIN under it. Depending if I can do it without lifting the track. I may replace all with that model of motor.

I did not think that the PL-11 side mounted motor would not work with setrack points. I was going to use Seep motors, but the fixings for these need to be sorted out before the track is pinned down. Martin

Looking at the space near those points an under baseboard point motor would be better, only thing is you would have to raise the layout up off whatever it's sitting on, which I assume is the floor, or am I worng.

The baseboard has reinforcing beams (can't think of the proper name for them) which have a 30mm to 40mm depth. This gives me a good enough depth to install motors and keep my wires safe from being caught on anything. Also bought some more grass mat and finished off my tunnel and done my road. Just need to white line it. I know I said I wasn’t going to do anymore for a while but works been fairly quiet this week. My part time degree starts next month so I thought better get as much done as possible before then.
