I’ve started another build thread as this project was supposed to just be a DCC test for my n-gauge but has somehow taken a life of its own. The photos are a bit old and look so empty to how it’s looking now but even now it’s still not complete. Such as lighting and make the signals work by DCC rather than cord pull.

You will just have to get them to let photobucket through that nasty gatekeeper.
Btw I love the semi with the loco on the low loader.

Or have a look when you get home.
Looking good Andy.
Just modified it to spread the photos out a bit, makes them easier to look at.

I’ve done a little work on this, fitted cable to the telegraph poles, put up some signs. Bought a Hornby A3, A4 with DCC sound fitted and Class 28 Co-Bo Diesel D5712 BR Green with Small Yellow Panels made by Heljan from ehattons. Still thinking what I need on the layout so ideas are welcome, the yard area off the road look a little empty.

Maybe some sort of industrial / service building for the yard.

Probaly a good idea, looks as if one of the workers is lying down on the job, or did he / she fail the pole dancing lessons.

Ok made a big decision, I’ve decided to build a scrap this. my trains refuse to cross the points without a pushing them, tried to fix it but had enough so everything has been removed off to be recycled to save money even recycling some of the base board. Points and servo kit has saved me £75 The new layout is going to be 1214mm by 1220mm rather than 1220mm by 440mm. ‘I’ve decided a round square shape with a points pointing outwards and one going in wards. Apart from the signal box most the other building will be coming from the new railway part work. I really hope this works out and I don’t regret this decision. A lot of time went in to the build, however this will allow me to run my big trains like my tornado and A4 with sound which I was playing with and I had so much fun with.

Well the new large base board is built and got the oval track laid with one set of points fitted and tested. Just waiting for a new set of points to arrive then I can fit the track inside the oval. At the moment there is a temp bit of track in its place so I can test the track. Best of all I can stop the trains anywhere on the track on they will start without a push yay

All the outside of the track is done. But I want to include a narrow railway as well. is 009 track is it the same an n-gauge? Also is 009 the narrow gauge correct for large 00-gauge? There seem to be a mix of answers to this. Some say n track is good enough, because am I correct in thinking that most kits for narrow are built on n-gauge a train chassis

From what I know 009 is the same gauge, but the sleeper spacing is different. I have some HOe wagons to build and they run on standard N scale track. Narrow gauge trains are built on a chassis that will run on the smaller track gauge. For narrow gauge I have mostly been using On30, which is O gauge on HO track, this is also called On2 1/2, but is all the same. What i'm getting at is that lots of places have different names, but it all runs on the same track. Good luck with it.
