Hattons of Liverpool (Eng) have for pre-order the British Railways 2-6-0-0-6-2 Garratt loco modelled for them by Heljan(this is also Heljan's first BR steam loco model as well,so it may be the start of something good, maybe 'Duke Of Gloucester???!! All the BR Garratts were gone by the time I started to 'trainspot', so technically it will not fit into my 'era' of the 1960 period, but, that don't mean I can't 'kid on' and have a 'preserved' one!!, so, I have decided that I will get myself one of the class, my preference being loco number 47992(Cat 266212) in 'pristine' black condition with the old style 'Lion on Wheel BR Emblem and BR numbers on the 'tanks'.
**To me this will represent a 'preserved example' and I can therefor run it on 'specials', or, as I so desire, anything, but mostly it will be purely a static model. Lastly, the model will have two motors and DC 'ready' it will cost 199 British pounds (165 with VAT off) It is due NEXT December (unconfirmed),so I've plenty of time to 'save up!!'...Dave.

I have made it just 1 garret post as they looked to be the same, (apologies Dave if they were different), it's just you can't really merge topics on here.
Been looking at the Garret in the Hattons catalogs that come with the model railway magazines I get and been sort of wondering weather to get one or not.

Well done Anthony!!,I have not done my order yet,I'll have to wait until I gets 'ome, harr, before I does the deed, but it will definately be '47992' in the 'pristine' black. I did ask if they would be doing '47994',apparently not unfortunately, this particular loco lasted until 1958 and might just have carried the last of the BR crests, but I have not found any evidence of this...yet!........Dave

Very impressive loco's Phil, but it's one long wait, that's for sure, hopefully, it'll be worth it! Let's also hope the dollar remains of some worth by then and has'nt slumped to something like 3-1....I've been there and done that!!!......Dave

I’m on the fence with this one, it’s a lot of money but the Revolving Coal bunker is very interesting. I feel my wallet will be feeling some pain. Only thing which I don’t like is some aren’t dcc fitted £199 for me to take apart and fit one, If I broke a part of it I was be very upset.

Read in the latest Hornby magzine, (Issue 60, June 2012) that it will be spring, (I assume UK spring) when the Garrat will be released now, not the end of this year.
This is due to the number of items having to be reviewed before the tooling could be done, also read tooling for the model has started.
