Hi guys Started on the Graf Spee, did a bit of work on her Saturday night....it didn't take long to get to this point, not much to do really. I will need to do some work around the props as the parts were a bit shoddy, the hull pieces went together quite well, and the deck needed a bit of work to square up, nothing painful tho. I added the brass bit to the bow and some windows and doors to the structure wall on the stern torpedo tube deck, I fixed the area around the props and I'm ready to send her to the paint shop, I have a wooden deck for her so, the only other thing completed was the removal of the moulded on anchor chains....Phil Attachments:

This is the Academy 350 scale version, she hasn't been hiding, just waiting her turn, this is the bargain I picked up a few months back, mind you there are many others waiting as well, their turn will come......Phil

She started out with some promise, but has quickly fallen away, some of the parts on the bridge superstructure just don't line up and the deck structure forward of the superstructure was very ill fitting. I've put in more work than I would expect too, 2.5 tons of filler, and I still can't see where I've been.
I was half tempted to throw this kit in the bin yesterday, but I've got a timber deck and brass for this kit, so I'll only continue because of the parts I have, to be honest, she will only be basic, base brass like ladders, stairs, radar etc, but I'm not putting in the work I would have otherwise.
I had some misgivings when I bought the kit, I now know why it was a bargain......I'll still make something of her, but I won't buy another Academy kit again, rating 1/10.......Phil
