I have dragged out the little but nice ship Mikasa from the collection, I had worked on her some time back, but stopped to await on aftermarket decks n brass etc.....
The kit is excellent...truly a nice job, the kit is very clean and the fit is almost prefect. I have joined the hull halves and added the braces, and the prop n shaft assemblies. The decks have been dry fitted and are an excellent fit.
The forward deck piece has had the molded on anchor chain plating removed and brass has been added in it's place. The molded details are quite brilliant, the anchor chain plating really didn't need to be changed, but as I had the brass.....changed it was.
The hull is now in the "await paint" stage, however I will progress with the superstructure for now, pics to follow......Phil

The hull got a splash of paint on the weekend, I must say the choice of colour the IJN used back then is not too appealing to me. I had to use Humbrol Service Brown in the end, I simply couldn't get a match for the Gunze colours.
But anyway she has progressed more.....I'll split the alternate weekends between her and the Warspite now, I'm further on with the Warspite, and the Mikasa is a more complex build...........Phil
