That is true, but the longer it takes the more expensive it becomes as our dollar keeps up it's 'slide' against the US and UK currency, maybe when we get a new government, it might get stronger, but I can't see that......we're 'doomed!!'.....Dave

Well the Duke Of Gloucester has arrived and on first inspection, (still in the box) it is not a good looking loco. Handrail on the boiler is a nice fine bit of wire, but then you look down and one of the buffers is sitting next to the boiler on the running board, instead of being where it should be, with the other one nowhere in sight. Just hope it runs better than it looks. Thinking about cancelling the P2 after seeing this loco. Clever moulding it ain't, it's back to being toy like.

I have cancelled the P2, partly due to the way this loco looks and thinking the P2 won't be any better, but also due to the way the dollar is going. That leaves just the Garrat to come and from what I have seen, it's going to look a lot better than locos on offer from Hornby. Looks like it will be Bachmann and Heljian for locos in the future.

Read the review of the Duke in the February Hornby magazine and I do NOT agree with it.

Another review of the Duke (railroad version), this time in the latest Model Rail magazine, saying the pipework under the cab looks fine from normal viewing distance. I do not consider 2 to 3 feet as normal viewing distance for a model loco.

My Duke Of Gloucester is still sitting in a siding after its failure on its maiden run. One day it may get to run again, but first I need to do some repairs to the loco end of the tender.
