I am starting out on what I expect will be a long term project. I have had to accept that the available space precludes me from my original project which was going to be the Liskeard / Looe branch line. What I have room for is a fiddle yard to Looe inspired port scene which will include some features inspired by Looe but too different to claim that it is Looe, hence the change of name to Port Kernow. The track bed ramps are in, pics to follow, and I am lining the hidden lines with a rubbery foam material to deaden any drumming noise (I hope).

Maybe one day one of us will manage to build the branch line from Liskeard to Looe. Hope it all works out and you don't have any problems with the hidden lines. Are you going to add cctv, or have sensors so you know where the trains are on the hidden lines ??

Not at this stage. I am going to making provision for "getting at" the hidden lines after doing some exhaustive track testing prior to closing up.

Sounds like a good idea. Having access to the hidden lines after closing it up will probly be a good idea, beacuse at someone no doubt something will deril or stall, if you don't. Thinks about a certain irish law.

Port Kernow is developing ...................slowly. I have finished laying track and wired all the various sections although I want to add a couple of isolation switches to enable me to manage more locos in Port Kernow itself. I'm afraid I can't add any photos because the sign up options don't want to know me and my images are too large. Sais la vie.

Odd. The Postimage and Imgur ones you don't need to sign up to and they can resize the photos for you. Only one that needs to be signed up for is Photobucket. Good idea with the isolation switches.

I'm back!!!!! I've started Port Kernow all over again. I've come up with a better layout design and I've also made the decision to go DCC although I haven't actually "chipped" my locos yet. I've completed the track bed and laid about half the track.

Welcome back and it is good to hear things are going again. Good luck with the new design and with the DCC, which is something I want to add to my layout.
