Hi, I'm new here in ths forum, so first a bit about me: German, married, two wonderful boys, model railway enthusiast, Maerklin fan, fan of 70s rock music (that's the reason for my forum name), hobby musician playing keyboards, and hobby railway photographer. My railway layout has it's beginning in 1962 when my dad decided to create a small layout. First it was built up before christmas and was taken away a few weeks after, but in 1973 it got it's place in the attic of my parents' house. There it became bigger and bigger through the years, last step was a turntable with a roundhouse. Now the room is full and no more chance to make it bigger, but of course there's always something to do like repairing or re-creating areas of the old layout. So here's a first picture, my older brother and me around 1972, just before the layout got it's place in the attic. In this pic it's still in our children's room

Always nice to see photos from when the layout started. I assume it was 3 rail track back then?

It was Maerklin AC track with the middle point contacts from the beginning, and it is still. Just the last part of the layout, a turntable with a roundhouse, is built in Maerklin K track. More pics of the layout coming soon...
