As you can see I still have to plank my Hull. I had to slow down to finish my lights and interior. I have now glued in the plug pointing downwards out the bottom, so I guess i can start from the bottom up. I still need to finish the great cabin interior , but , its mostly made. ;D Attachments:

4 pounder or 6 pounder??, (A Mac Donald burger, is it a half pounder, or a one pounder??,frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!! who gives a, it's going to make you spew anyway!!) So, if I ever get back into this 'thing', I'm not going to ponder over the pounder, (I'd like to see two side by side for comparison?) I've made the 'cradle' from wood and that's as far as I'm going with it, what sits on it is a canon, looks like a canon, it'll do for me, my model! This my friends is just another reason of not continuing with this model and just writing the thing off, maybe put it on Ebay one day because it seems what we've got here is a 3 masted model boat which in no way seems to be the model that it supposed to represent!, and that is sort of putting me off big time, I should have learned after the Titanic!! I love to detail things,don't get me wrong,but everything it seems is wrong with this kit , bad wood, bad metal parts, innacurate fittings, bad investment, waste of my hard earned 'low paid' income that I really cannot afford to waste, but as Phil said, we're almost at the 1/2 way point, I don't want to give up, but stopping now will be a saving of 750 bucks in scrap the way it's going, I think I'll make that call!! I admit to having changed a 'few' things on the way, and it has been a challenge but it's just getting too much, too many things wrong with it so it seems, and so much more to do, I think I'll just finish off my "Cutty Sark" when the 'Arizona' is finished, at least it seems to be OK, the 'Endeavour is now officially 'mothballed' until retirement for a 'serious pastime' and nothing more...Dave

Thats a shame Dave, a big call at the halfway mark.I know there are a few things not right about this boat, the worst was the bulwark, which was really going to change the look of the model. That was only a cut down, nothing to add.The other things look to me to be (superficial)easily changed at any point if your not happy with them.Canons being a point , at a later date throw em overboard(cook did ) and replace with bought ones.Only if you feel they need it.I think whats happened is you see someone like shipaholic changeing everything and think , christ is it that bad, but he is quite fussy with what he wants HIS boat to look like. I for one have no problem with anyone who builds his boat as per the instructions as it will still look great and to anyone else other than an expert,- it will look bloody fantastic . If you do want to follow what some others are doing just ask how they did it, remember there are no dumb questions only dumb answers. I know I would go out of my way to help you and I believe others here would also. Only friends here........ ;D TONY ;

Thanks for those kind words Tony,it is a shame I know, I'm not known to give up on a project,especially at the half way point, so why ?? Firstly, it's a lot of money down the 'gurgler', but it would be foolish to waste the same if my heart is no longer in the build!, I reckon that's a valid enough reason! I did start with a 'passion' for this model, it was fun, the Forum was great and it brought me into contact with a lot of great guys with exceptional talent I might add.... like yourself Tony (and it still will)and I am extremely pleased to say have met a couple of these persons in the 'flesh' (so to speak!!) and we are now 'like 'best pals'....... So back in days of old when the 'Forum was gold' I was prepaired to go along with the kits poor materials etc etc, as were we all, but it's a hard lesson to take in when we pay for something then have to 're make' from scratch if we can ... cause it's dirt. Personally I should have known after the Titanic experience that these Part Works are bad news, (I more or less scrapped the whole thing!!) I think the exception was the Bismarck,it was not without it's bad wood/material problems but at least the brass was good !! Now, this is a decision that I have taken on myself, I have not been influenced or put off by any of you guys out there, and guys, you are all doing a great job, each of you will build it as you see fit, if it's to be 'a museum piece' that is trully wonderful! I know that I am quite capeable myself of putting this together, (or any kit) making parts from scratch, I can do that, but in reality I reckon I have enough of it, 'sorry guys', but I will follow your individual progress with your models with great interest and I look forward to seeing the finished thing...Dave

I can understand your feelings my friend, you already know my misgivings on the ship, however I will complete her, but not anytime soon, I've pushed her further down the list behind other projects, my Bismarck will take preference when it warms up here in Coolburn.....Phil

Dave, its been a pleasure to have known you here, good luck with your next project/ I hope you drop in now and again, good company is hard to find. ;D Phil, I am continueing my build , I got behind a little ( 20 issues to be exact) so plenty to do to wittle that pile down Doesnt take long to put the planks on so not to worried, I'm decking out the great cabin and adding a couple of led's. All my windows will be open at the back and side so viewing inside the great cabin will be possable. I hope this will add another dimension when viewing the finished model. To often I have finished a model and found looking at it nowhere near as satisfying as building it. I am trying to think ahead this time. Talking of thinking ahead, has anyone thought about a glass display case? It would be handy to keep the dust off the rigging etc... etc .. when we get started on that !! I made one for the 1/350 Enterprise carrier.... saved a heap by pinching the glass out of second hand windows , only cost 15 dollars to get it cut to size.

Dave, yeah sad to see you have given up the build, hope I didn't put you off with my comments about some of the parts. I agree with what Tony said, I am basically scratch building using the "kit"as a base because its what I want to do. Have you looked at the photo of first Endeavour model I built (on my page 1) I am not happy with a lot of that, but most people are blown away by it when they see it..... Steve

Hello fellow builders,I'm just giving up on the Endeavour,I've got plenty of other projects in the pipeline, IE, my Arizona model, there's 15 pages of it on this Forum!!, so I am definately still around Tony and I'll still be giving my comments as I watch your progress, (god help us!!)I'm not giving up on that, I'd miss you guys......honest!! And Steve, you did influence me a 'wee bit' if the truth be known (cough),you are making this 'model' into a 'Museum Piece', I really admire you for that, your work is trully inspiring (as is everyones) but I suppose what I'm trying to say is that this 'kit' was supposed to be a 'Museum Piece' for us 'ALL"to build, but we found out early on, (even before you came on the scene Steve),that is was not going to be the case!! With inferior planking and wonky bulwarks our work was already cut out for us,'what' l wonder lies ahead with this so called advertised 'Museum Model???' You my friend have brought a few issues to light, more than what I had expected and I began to 'see' more stuff coming 'on deck', what about the masts?, will they be bananas?, I read somewhere that the 'Crows Nests' were innacurate as well, and let's face it, there are many many parts, all of which may be required to be replaced, scratch built, or whatever, it's frightening to think ahead, and then, there is the serious matter of the cost....... All of us are up for 1.5 grand at the least with a 'straight model' and lets face it, many will be happy with that...for sure, but it's an expensive lesson to learn that we have not infact got that 'Museum Model' as promoted by Amati and what we have got is infact an inferior ship of cheap and incorrect parts ! This is definately not as advertised, therefor we have been totally ripped off and have not got what we have paid for!! (perhaps we'd get our money back if we pursued a claim for faulse advertising???) Anyhoo,If one chooses to add, replace, re-build, buy extra bits,scratch build, (whatever!) just because we want to make it better for 'personal reasons', 'great, go for it....I do!!, I enjoy detailing no end, but the reality of it all is down to the price we are paying for this kit, it should have been as near the perfect 'Endeavour' model in the first place with little or no work to be done..just follow the plans!!!! So I just said to myself, "buggered if I'm going to go through all that extra work, Steve can go for his life" and good luck to him I say, and everyone else on this 'quest'.....go for it!!........
