This is the current state of progress, issue 33. The planking is fairly straightforward. I'm anxious to find out how good the top planks are for the sides above the main wale, they don't look that good in the photos of the ship in the magazine. If I am not happy with them I am thinking of buying some 4mm wide good quality wood strips. Attachments:

Just going back a bit into the build, because I didn't start this diary until recently. I have done what some others have done and fitted an extra deck under the forecastle, instead of using that wooden block to sit the scuttle ladder on. Attachments:

Instead of fitting the stairs supplied, which are inappropriate for a small scuttle, I made a small ladder which I fitted almost vertical. Attachments:

Hello Mr 'Shipaholic', first up, you are doing a great job! I was into the 'Endeavour' big time before the 'other forum' got 'lost' (It was the best forum!!) Just though I'd say that I picked up on the main deck bulwarks and adjusted them in much the same way as you did. I'm also making new canons as well, as you say, the canons were probably aquired first and the bulwarks made to suit, talk about shortcuts!! Anyway, I will follow your build with great interest, meantime with my own, I'm just aquiring the parts and that is mostly the strakes for the planking....Dave

Thanks for your nice comments Dave and Phil. Haven't done much on mine for the past couple of weeks, the last 2 issues have been about building the companionways, I will do them later, just want to get the planking finished first. Plus I've been busy doing other jobs around the house.

Been busy doing some home reno's lately. Plus the last few issues have been about building the companionways, which I will do later when they are needed. I have stopped using those small nails on the planking and have reverted to the way I planked my last two ships, by hammering in sewing pins until the glue dries then pull them out. I reckon all those nail heads will be a pain in the A when the hull is sanded to shape after this first layer of planks Attachments:

Here is what the model looks like after issue 41. I can't believe its taken so many issues just to get this far, only the first layer of planks done. I remember being at this stage after a couple of months with previous kit builds. Notice there are lots of stealer planks to be fitted. The Endeavour has a difficult hull shape to plank. Attachments:

Haven't done anything on the ship for two weeks but I'm having a quiet Easter at home so spent the last two days finishing off all the stealer planks. It has come up pretty good doing the planking exactly as building guide says. Attachments:
