This is the 'boat' so far with the bulwarks modified and the cannon has had some attention as well Bit rough atm but some finer detail work still to be done! Cheers Chris Attachments:

Nice job on the bulwarks, not so sure that the metal cannon carriage is salvagable, tho you have done as much as can be done to it to make it better. I think I will scratch build them myself. Good photo's, I'm struggling to get my rubbish camera to take a half descent pic.

Thanks pal. Ive been thinking along the same lines re:scratch building the cannon base. I like the brass wheels but the metal dont look like wood The pics are taken with a samsung 12 megpixel blah blah thingy camera, around $100. Amazing when I think of the first digital cam I bought a few yrs ago and paid 800 smackers for a 2 meg camera...Doh!. Cheers

Started on the lower hull 'dark sapelli wood'. Ive noticed the planks are very much thinner than the previous ones, I thought they would be easier to bend ,but having some difficulty with the bow doing it the way the instructions say to do them !The planks seem to want to bend and curve up a bit more than the instructions show ? The stern ends are just fine. Also in the pics are my first go at scratch built cannon bases and I think looks good compared to the supplied ones, although I already modified from original. The cannons are 'front' heavy and I think Ill drill down the centre to remove some weight from the front of it. Does anyone know how many of these there is sposed to be ? Cheers Chris. Attachments:

10 cannons total, but only a max of 6 on the waist deck, these were thrown overboard when the Endeavour went aground, then the other 4 were brought up from the hold, where they had been acting as ballast.

Hi everyone, hope all are well ! Progress so far with the outer sheathing is going nicely, although I didnt follow the plan of laying the planks exactly as the instructions show as the planks even though they are very thin didnt want to bend and twist as shown in the book !!! particularly at the bow end.If you havent got to that part yet you will see what i mean. I justbent them as far as I could and then let them follow their natural shape , but I think it still looks pretty good. Cheers for now Chris Attachments:

Gday all , Hopethis evening finds everyone safe and well Some updates on my lil ol boat. Just about to start on the 'main wales'. Pity bout the transom windows being a bit out as it does look 'purty' ;D Ill have a go at scratch building a replacement. Also a pic of my workbench which you can see about 4 unfinished projects , not including the endeavor,so much to do and so little time' Cheers guys Chris Attachments:

Looks good Chriso, you do nice work. Watchout for that scratchbuilding business, once you start, it kinda challenges you to do more. I must say that there is more satisfaction in scratchbuilding a piece successfully than using pre made parts , however it can, painfully slow up a project. I do get a kick out of it when it works.

At least you can work on your work bench Chriso, mines is slightly 'hidden' by garage junk!!. Keep up the good work and have a go at the 'scratch' building, it's not too daunting,a fairly easy piece to be getting on with, but the big question still remaining,is to why this has to be done in the first place!!......Dave

haha ! yes -scratchbuilding ,I have already had a bit of a go at this very difficult yet rewarding practice lol. These 2 'almost finished' projects are 100% scratched models. The endeavor has slowed everything else up a bit. ;D Sopwith camel everyone is familiar with ,the boat is King Khufus ( cheops ) solar boat found at the Great pyramid of Giza. Cheers. Chris. Hello to you all. Progress thus far ! Have finished the main whales ,except for a final stain , and fixed the anchor linings in .These were a bit more fiddly than I first thought they would be ,but with a bit of fine tuning it looks ok. The gunwhales are all stained up and ready to go on but Im a bit apprehensive about glueing them on in case theres summit not right about them as in the case of the rear transom which I had glued in before you guys had mentioned how wrong it was ..doh ! Anyhow , cheers for now and hope all are well. Chris Attachments:

Thanks Tony . Just wondering if anybody has had the same happen with leftover parts as me , or have I been really frugal with my stuff ? lol The parts on the right are left from hull planking , the stuff on the left is the "store in safe place to be used later". I am happy with having so much left coz I will use this on my Bounty , which will be at least 50 % scratchbuilt. Cheers Chris. Attachments:
