Maybe this chap just picked a name for the colour........from the photos you have posted of your model, i agree with you, it's not Sherwood Green, from my experience, Sherwood is a much lighter shade than whats on the loco.........Phil

Yip,been on the site quite regular, you could say I'm a regular visitor to the site,I'm keen to see how it's going..quite a job,"thatsaforeshore" Phil OK,now the good news from my baby Deltic forum..shot doon in flames!! I was quoted the official BR colour spec for the band on the 'Babe' by some guy from the 'Brush Society' (that's Basil Brush!!) So,it was possitively and absolutely Sherwood Green and Heljan have got it spot on, it's my eyes that's wrong, the light and shade thing plus colour film and development, the weather even! There you have it my dear friend, Dave has been proved wrong,it is what it is and that appears to be final, so all those pictures that I've seen have been a 'pigment' of my imagination and all due to 'conditions' and if I go ahead and I paint mine in the 'yellow/ green'..I'll be 'wrong wrong wrong wrong'...so what am I going to do Phil??,tell you what, why dont I go ahead and paint it anyway!!!.........Dave

Thanks for the kind words and rea-shoor-ance Anthony,I'm over it anyway, there has been no reply...Poms?,they know it all (well, most of them do!!) I really don't know why I bother with British....er,,English Forums,I kindly put on line how I did this and that, like my Class22 and the 'Babe', do I get any praise??, "naw", one guy actually asked me if I did 'fix' the bogie 'problem' on the 22, I raised the friggin' thing about 2mm and spent one whole week end plus on it...smart arse comment, but that was it. no more!! Another guy showed some interest in how I raised the bogies the on the 'BD', so I took photos and put them on line, no thanks as yet, it makes you wonder and think 'why do I bother then??' Us Aussies shouldn't know how to do all this stuff , how can we?,out here in the colonies for heavens sake?,pull the other one old chap, what the '4XXXX' do they know??....... I love my 'BR' , it's all 'happy memories stuff' I've been into it for such a long time and I will be 'till the end of days' I think I know a wee bit,I've learned, and I'm still learning, but I'm no expert, nor will I ever claim to be, unfortunately, this is all too evident in this hobby, the 'know it all' you only have to read a 'British' Railway mag or go into one of their Forums and it's there, real put you off stuff. Now, don't get me wrong,I admire 'talent', (you guys know that I do!!)it's a skill that can be applied to a hobby...no matter what it is, but in reality, it's only a 'hobby' after all ,(I know Phil, you only said that yesterday to me!!) but when it gets 'too serious', ( as I've found out))"I've did this,I've changed that, this is the way it is", I know my friends, I 'change' things as well, but it's for 'me',it's for my pleasure (as Phil kindly put it ) I like to 'share' this 'pleasure' but never that serious about it,I like to add a wee bit humour if I can,but when you are 'shot down in flames', well, it makes me wonder why I bother to go 'foreign',so I reckon, once I put my Baby Deltic' on the 'Das Englander' 'Forum' with it's 're-painted' band of 'green', that'll do me...no more, I'll just use my 'talent' to annoy you guys on this 'ere Forum', I think that's only fair? ................ Anyhoo,I'm sure that you have all heard my whinging before, and I say 'sorry' my friends, but when I'm annoyed, I just have to say something!.................Dave

Don't worry Dave we still love ya.......
There are some very knowledgeable chaps out there, commonly known as "rivet counters", while some are quite nice chaps and will listen.....then still do it their way, others are right nasty bits o work and don't care who they injure with their criticism, but praise is certainly not on their menu.
I'm a member of a couple of other forums and most of the time I leave the session wondering....why? I don't visit them anymore. I stopped building for other people years ago because of the constant fussing and interference by the owners, I find "rivet counters" are the same, if you listen to everything said you'll get nothing done.
But fear not some of the most gifted model makers I've met are Aussies and very nice chaps to boot, they have a sense of humour are willing to help when asked and are proof that all the worlds knowledge is not in England.
Being serious or not is up to the individual tho, but I don't believe it should be used as a shield to hide behind while shooting others down, and some things I've read smack of envy, being constructive seems to be a dying art......but I look forward to you annoying me.......Phil

Done the re-spray (air-brush) of the 'Sherwood green' band last night and I like it, but, I feel that the 'Yellow green' (as per the Deltics) is maybe 'too' yellowish, perhaps I should have toned it down just a wee bit, but I'm still Adam Adamint that the Heljan version of 'SG' is not right. The model does suit this paint job very well and looks every bit like a 'Baby' Deltic.....I'll post a couple of photos of the 'before and after' tonight if I get round to it. I've also added the small 'blue star' coupling code transfers to the fronts,so that means, definately no more re-sprays! What I did do was to weather it slightly, (hand job!) this has improved the look of it even more, but now that I've got a new 'air brush', me is thinking a very light 'mist' of frame dirt would be the go....... Anyhoo,on the 'airbrush' for a minute, 'Technically', this air brush it is not 'new',well it is,I've just never used it! I have another two, these are the ones that I've been using, but they are giving me problems big time, one of them just wont spray at all, even though it's as clean as a whistle (gravity feed),it's got me!,and the other,it's clogged I reckon, but I can't get the needle out,so they are both in a jar of white spirits to 'soke' for a while!! The 'new' one is a gravity feed as well, the paint pot being a part of the 'brush' and it works perfectly,so between this' brush' and some great masking tape (auto) I got a perfect finish..and it's easy to clean!!...........Dave
