Well my first lot of parts arrived yesterday for the 200 scale Akagi carrier, the parts are in their own sealed little packets, safe and undamaged, better idea than previous partworks. The build instructions were delivered by email in pdf format, best of all there are no postage charges.
The metal parts are quite clean with only a little flash, nothing to major, and the timber parts look very good, but the proof will be when I stick em together. The destructions are clear and concise with the usual tips etc, but I think a bit of deviation from the norm will occur, for example I can't see why the initial bridge superstructure is build the way it is, more to follow.
Phil's tip.....Painting...If your new to this type of construction with metal parts, always use a metal etch primer, it will ensure your final coat of paint sticks properly........Phil

An error already, my paperwork states she is 200 scale, but the web says 250 scale........I don't care, either scale fits my eyes......Phil

I saw that one Phil, found it this morning..it looks an interesting build...the metal parts look as if they are 'white metal' ....not brass, but I'm sure that there will be plenty of that!!...Dave

Yeah......I've already stated that.....
There is no information book with this build, as is the case with other builds, that would be disappointing to some, but it doesn't matter to me, I only tossed them when I was done anyway.
But it seems it's only available on the web, I was chatting to my local newsagent yesterday and he didn't know the part work existed......Phil

It would be a bit frustrating if you didn't have a computer Phil!! I think it is 'assumed' that most people own one or some other 'device' where the instructions can be downloaded,if you aint not got one of dose man, well I tinka you gotta be uppa de kyber pass..otherwise I agree, the written stuff is a pain', takes up 'room' as well. I have not read one issue as yet,nor will I ever get round to it,so I suppose it saves money big time, probably keeping the cost of the model down..which is a good thing..right??.........Dave

Ok....I've started on this ship.....I've put the hull frames together dry, it seems to go together quite well, tight, but better than I expected. I won't glue it just yet, as I still want to be sure there will be no last minute alterations, I learnt a lesson with the Bismarck, but I'll post a piccy or 2 soon.......Phil

I have only eight parts issues to go with this one.....I've put her away for now while I get the Abercrombie a bit further advanced, but I have looked at her on other forums and discussion threads and I've decided to follow what others have done, by not doing the internal work.....I base this on when she's complete and in the cabinet, she won't be touched or opened so the internals will not be seen.......Phil
