That's Ebay for you my friend,it's pricing like that that puts you off, the guy obviously has not got a clue, (he must be dreaming!!)he's just following a trend of higher than high inflated prices for British stuff sold through Australian vendors...I've just worked out that my Limited Edition NRM Backmann Deltic loco cost me,including all the postage.....England to Scotland... Scotland to here, and at todays exchange rate.....that's 253 bucks.......what would you buy???

Think I know which I would go buying, just a pity the NRM don't ship to Aus. Can always take a look at Rails, might have to wait a wee bit though, I want the A4 to arrive before I get any other locos.

How's about a 'run of the mill Digital Ready' class40 from Backmann for 167.49 dollars?..not on yer nelly duff!!....prices include postage by ra by.. And here's one that might interest you personally Phil..A Cl14 'Teddy Bear', Australian seller, with postage..... 244 dollars!!..................Dave

I new you had a 'Teddy Bear' Phil, just pointing out what I thought a 'high' price and one that I'm sure you would not pay..Methinks, these sellers put bits of paper (with prices on them) in a bloody hat and draw one out...that 'TB' has been there for a few weeks, I think they are still available from Hattons for 117 quid.?? (less VAT for us @20%).......Dave

Yes, that's were I got my TB from, but she's safe in her box, but I'm not sure which bigger box it's in, it's there somewhere.....and it didn't cost $244 of Phil's hard earned cash......Phil

I think my mate Iain in Scotland would tell this guy where to go,he's got the whole class in their original D400 guise plus as many variants. Knowing Iain he'd probably manage to purchase 'several' of these locos for a pricely sum like that, he'd probably manage to get two of these locos with sound in Scotland!! Frankly, I'm quite stunned at this ones price, no wonder we don't see many British layouts over here, who in their right mind would pay that!!......Dave

My new Kato SD90Mac arrived today, very happy......it cost me including postage $134.00 from the US of A.....the same thing in Melbourne was $295.00.....no sound just standard DC.
I was told when I inquired......that is was a very rare loco......I told him that I know a place that had 22 of them for sale at less than half his price, so I didn't class it as rare, he told me to buy from them and hung up......do you think I got to him.
So does that mean all the locos here are "very rare" and you have to pay thru the nose for them.......little wonder we shop online......Phil

No wonder almost everyone in Australia buys online, from overseas. It's about time shops woke up to the fact, that a lot of people here, don't like being ripped off, with poorly made products. I'm talking about more than just the hobby scene here. I was told when I inquired......that is was a very rare loco......I told him that I know a place that had 22 of them for sale at less than half his price, so I didn't class it as rare, he told me to buy from them and hung up......do you think I got to him. Thats a good way to get people to buy from you, what an attitude, would serve him right if he went bust!!!

The thing is Anthony, these people don't really listen, they seem to inflate prices, rather than the opposite and make out that it's not their fault prices are sky high... the dumb response is... "it's because people are buying from overseas and the 'High' Aussie dollar that's driving up the prices upward..that's what it is???",so would'nt you think that in the interest of the consumer, prices would go down to compete, but no, they try and get what they can get in the way of huge 'profit' margines, but here, we're no stupit, if it cost much less overseas, what in the name of god do they expect us to do?? ,and yes, they do go bust, and it really serves them bloody well right.....I rest my case........and just to finish off, how does all the above have an effect on second hand goods???....."Hmmmmmmmmmmmm"....Dave

Or when they put today's price on something that's been on the shelf for a couple of years.......online shopping is the future and hasn't it always been the buyer's right to get the best value for his money......Phil
