Seeing as I've got some 'noo locos' to build, I thought it would be appropriate to get paint!! So, when I was onto 'Howes' re flush glazing for the 'Deltic', I also ordered the 'Deltic Blue' paint for my 'Dapol' model, and then I thought I'd get BR loco green for the Airfix 'City of Truro',and the list went on, 'warning panel yellow' ( a 'yellow splasher' us trainspotters called this on diesels!!).....buffer beam red, and Pullman 'Cream', I think I'll have a go at airbrushing the Backmann MK1 Pullman stock as their version of the colour 'cream' is definately too yellow!! This will be a start, I'm sure I needs 'heaps' more!!........Dave

Well all my 'paint 'n' stuff has arrived safe and sound, I got the Transfers and works plates (Stainless steel) and 'flush glazing' for the 'Deltic' and the 'Deltic Blue' paint to paint it with,I'm still waiting on the motorising unit,it has been 'configured' at the UK shop and is on it's way. I'm stll trying (without success) to get an order placed with MG Sharp UK for their A1 'grill detail set' (The Deltic) I've contacted them by Email several times....nothing!! I aso got a few bottles of paint in my order from 'Howes', BR dark loco green, yellow for the warning panels (diesels) buffer beam red,the blue for Deltic (previously metioned) and lastly 'Pullman' Cream. This is to re-paint the Backmann MK1 Pullmans, hopefully it's the same shade as the Hornby ones! Anyway, to see what difficulties I may have air brushing these, I got one out of it's box, 4 screws undid the body, the glazing units are glued in, but thankfully,it seems to be a 'non setting type glue',(??) so it was easy to get these off. The roof comes off as well, it's got the earlier white roof, so I'll probably paint it roof grey when it's off (maybe) So I reckon with a bit of carefull masking, air brushing out the 'Backmann Yellow' should be easy, and on these particular Pullmans, there's no other form of printing, ie, I can't do the ' Hadrian Bar' as that has the name plastered on the 'yellow' unless I can source some transfers...Hmmm 'Fox???........Anyway, I've a lot on and I'm looking forward to having aworking Deltic at last, hopefully it'll put me off looking for the RTR Backmann (NRM) one!!

" A plan Phil??", just thinking what I might need for the 'future', my mind goes "intae" (Sco) overdrive when I see these colours, especially when the 'Howes' list lets you know just exactly what the colours are and gives you an 'era', ie, my Heljan Hymec diesel was one of their first and does not have a red buffer beam like it should, and the 'sherwood green' band is not on the front valances like it should be, they are black, like the buffer beam. The Backmann Deltic has vents where it shouldn't have, so it just might require a new paint job, then there's the 'frame dirt', I reckon some subtle weathering will be done on some of my locos and coaching/wagon stock! Lastly, although the Backmann Mark1 Pullmans are great models, the yellow as I said will be painted out,it has been said that the Pullman insignia is not very well printed, the transfers will fix that..so there IS a PLAN Phil..you are correct!!..........Dave

Well, the airbrush (s) are in fine working order, but time at the moment is not on my side, but I'm sure if I can get a 'window' of opertunity, I'll be in about it..I thought I'd have my motorising kit for the Deltic, not yet,the 10 day ceiling for delivery has evaporated, and I know for a fact things are getting through with my recent deliveries. I've also 'Ebayed' a set of hobby knives to finish carving up the Dapol body...Dave

10 days isn't too bad, I've been waiting 3 weeks now for some hoppers from the US, longest wait in years this one, but fear not Dave, pick a day and it will arrive, you've done that before.....Phil
