My 16 dollar (from the UK) Dapol kit ( the old Airfix) turntable kit came 'home' yesterday. You can appreciate how old this kit is by the amount of 'flash' (not Gordon!),there's flash on the flash!! Anyhoo, opening the packet there are quite a few parts to this, but I was surprised by the size of it,I thought it was 'N' guage!!, apparently it's 10 inches,I wonder if that's long enough for a "Coronation Class??",soon find out as I've started to build it! This is one of the 'above girder' type apparently widely used by the GWR,in other words, it does not have a 'deep well',so, I'm thinking of 'inverting' it. This task should be easier now that I have wood that's only half the thickness of the doors, but for the time being I'll construct is 'as is', by lightly 'tacking' it together, then later on I'll take it apart when I change the boards round,I don't think that should be a problem,so no 'Superglue',mind you, I am at present fitting the running rail, and for that,I'm using the afore mentioned glue, reason?,well,it will not be taken apart,I don't think there is any need to,above or 'inverted',this part is required 'as built', I was thinking of fitting a 'steel' rail, but I reckon that'll be to much bother, plus it'll be hard to see down in the 'deep' of the well! Well, there you have it folks,I'll give you a progress report every now and then,I'm sure that'll please you all!!!........Dave

It's taken a while to respond Phil, that my friend is a 'woofter!!'...Anyhoo, I've inverted it, but I don't think it was a good idea because I can't get the 'wheel' things fixed to the girder in a way that satisfies me,this means that the wheels do not stay on the 'track' as it turns,so I've gave up for the moment!!.....Dave

I think to invert it, will take some serious modification, not impossible but some work will be needed............Phil

I thought that I was onto a winner Phil, but it's got me by the short and curlies,my idea seemed sound, but it was giving me the "jip",so I've abandoned it for the moment...Dave

I'm thinking of a job not so well done Phil, infact I'm thinking of forking out for the 'Peco' one instead, dearer perhaps,it's round the 40 dead squid mark from Rails, but it's way better I'm reading, and it'll probably work as well!!......Dave
P/S,Phil, have you any info for me re your Metcaff Viaduct,if you have, is it a double or single???.

It would probably been heaps cheaper buying my rails from 'Rails'.... 60 dead sqid is all that it is for 25 yards of Peco,so we pay the eqivelent of 4.50 squid, the Brits pay 2.40 squid for a length, totally sucks don't it!!...........Dave
