Hi Anthony, I was thinking about you when I was writing that. I think it would look good.If you read all those magazines -they must have gotten on it (rum) when they werent sailing. I can just hear the party. I did get some seriously rough sand paper and it did the trick, almost finished sanding the bow.

Well Im up to the curved stern section with the rudder hole and the airing ports. I am thinking of adding the lights to the airing ports,I have lights everywhere else . There is....... just...... enough room. I probably will do it. Gee the sanding was fun ......... not. I am happy with the boat as a whole. ;D

some pics. I have stopped the stern planking at 2 planks to put in led's and so I can pre-cut the planks for the airing ports and the rudder cutouts before gluing them on. You can see I had an accident with my stern quarter deck post, just to hard to roughly sand and be gentle at the same time LOL. Not to worry it will be fixable. Attachments:

Thankyou Phil, ;D, Anthony i am using a water based wood filler called "timber mate" 250gram jar. It's easy to sand off I have completed installing lights in the stern airing ports and am halfway through planking that little section. It was a squeeze getting the wiring in and hidden outa site. I have made the windows two planks high as that looks about right. I have not made detailed measurements but it does look about right.I'll finish it tommorrow and take a pic.

I have finished the stern planking and am quite happy with it. Rather a difficult spot the two corners. I got away with a minimum of filler. Attachments:

I manged to get the lights in and going, it was bloody tight getting the wiring in and out of sight, in hindsight I should of used smaller wire. Attachments:

I have bogged and sanded one half of "das boot" Tommorrow I'll do the other half. Feels like I'm flying along now.I be planking the outer layer soon.I have to work out where the side cabin windows go as I will do them as I plank up past them ,same as I did the stern windows.

Yeah , I got a directors cut version on dvd, not a bad movie. I liked the book even better. At one stage I was reading, and realised that I was holding my breath. ;D I fully intend to make the 1/72 scale u boat one day.

I've got two of dem 1/72 'Das Boots', the film is great, especially if you crank up the volume on the 'ye ole' sound system,I've seen me lying on the couch sweating like a pig thinking the next depth charge is gonna get me!!.... Lastly, you guys are doing great things with this kit, amazing really, and now I read that the very first 'metal casting' that we got in issue 1 ...the 'crest window thingy' ...is way wrong...ridiculous!!..what next??? I'm thinking (seriously and I'm sorry to say)that for anybody who is building this kit for the 'experience' and 'sheer joy' of actually owning an 'Endeavour' model, or to anybody who is unable to replace, scratch build, or whatever should be totally pissed off getting to know the 'wrongs' of this kit. To them I say "you would be better out of the Forum and just go ahead and build it as you see fit, the instructions will guide you through it and you will end up with a 'good' model, that is all your own work and influenced by nobody but yourself!! Being 'influenced' and 'led' by what others do can surely be a good thing, but , perhaps too good, information can be a bad thing to, I believe it can be offputing having a reverse effect unfortunately by putting one off. I'm one of those, and I'm perfectfully capeable of scratchbuilding etc etc, I just got totally pissed off with the whole damn thing and thinking ahead with hindesight, no more wasting of my hard earned cash and time, why am I continuing with a kit that 'according to' has so many glaring faults, and for the money,I would have been better buying bananas!! Anyway, personally, I'm glad I decided not to continue "enough was enough" (I did enjoy the build for a while) but I stopped my subscription, (I cried as I thought of the loss financially, but better to have 1/2 a loss of '50 odd', than a full 100 part loss!!, but still, it's heaps of good money down the gurgler, just thinking, I could have bought bananas, (not many mind you!!)..and just think, (Mr average) if you are continuing, most of you have'nt reached the half way spot yet, so there's probably heaps of 'crap' still to go..... and replace!!.........good luck to you all!!!.......Dave
