OK,part two, once again I have the wrong blade for the craft knife and the job at hand but I proceed to remove the beading from the port side anyhoo,'stem to stern' My mistake was that I glued the angle right on the edge of this beading,so as I'm scraping it off I'm also reducing the already thin side of the Evergreen Angle, for most of the length it didn't matter, but I had to replace a couple of lengths where it fell apart, such is life, but I've learned my lesson!! Now it's 'strech sprue' time,'yahoo', plenty of them come with the model,so I can stretch till the cows come home! I could only do small 'stretches' at a time as it requires to be thick enough to be noticed. I glued small sections at a time to the outside top edge of the 'new stuff' until the 'port' was finished (hic) that's the port side (now where is that bottle of port?) I came to a stuttering hault mind you right up the 'aftenda',there was and end piece that would have vanished with the 'new work',so it had to come off and be raised so that it is 'visually' correct at least, it was not a 'part' to be fitted, but a fitted part,so it was sliced off and a bit of 'Platicard' was used to pack it up to the 'new level',then the 'stretched sprue' was fitted round the stern part. I though now that one side was complete, painting would be a good idea, I've still got a couple of cans of the 'blue',so I took it outside, turned it turtle on a flat surface, masked off here and there, but, dister struck, overspray,or in this case 'under spray' found it's way onto the aft wooden deck and it turned a wee bit blue...AAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!!!!!,and to make matters worse,I had not done a very good job of removing the 'old beading' plus there were gouges wher I had slipped or 'dug in' the cutting blade...so it was all very messy looking.. .I was on the verge of giving up and left a cleaning crew to do their work overnight on the deck,so, with a bit of 'hollystoning' and a scrub with 'dishwasher liquid' then a good rinse, the cleaners advised that they had done their best and it was as good as it's going to get! Carrying on I found the correct cutting blade and proceeded to 'clean up' my mess along the port side,I may have to replace a whole panel with a new plasticard section, I'll see how it turns out after another coat of paint!.. Not quite done yet,I forgot one very important detail,up right ot the bow front, there are two 'hawser' holes, these require to be right up at the top touching the 'beading', these therefor needed to be shifted,so I cut off the 'rims', the two holes that were left were filled with a bit of sprue, bugger filla!!,then the two 'rims' were repositioned to their 'new height' to make it 'look right',and fortunately,it does! By doing this folks, I've still got the 'correct look' for the ship, but at the expense of this major structural change, it will no doubt increase heights between the bow and stern for things like portholes and the likes, but I'll live with that!! Conclusion,in the end, I'll have managed to achieve what I set out to do and that's what counts..roll on the starboard side!!Dave

This port side shot shows the amidships section and the new 'beading',unfortunately, this bit did not come out too good and may require a new 'plated section'. I worked on it last night to try and improve on it,I still haven' t painted it,so I don't know the verdict Attachments:

Just a tip that may be useful to you, when I need to mask off a large area to prevent over spray etc, I use large freezer bags, more for the economy of materials and their flexibility.......Phil

Thanks Phil, I'll remember that! The photo's are OK,but I can't for the love of me take close ups with this camera. My 'good' camera has vanquished into fin air,but at least I know how now brown cow to get the things on the 'computa'.........before I forget again!!. Anyhoo, I'll win in the end,the deck is good,I'll get round to re-spraying the port side soon and see if my effort to 'clean it up' a bit better has worked......Dave

I resprayed it yestermaday,tape/ bags and hope Phil,it's a total pain in the preverbial, every piece of equipment that was glued on deck.......is not anymore!, is't all come off, there is not one hatch cover left, I don't know how many are lost, but this is one job that I should have done BEFORE wooden decks were laid and stuff was fixed in place..and painted...it might look the part, but it's been a total disaster as far as I'm concerned and to be honest I'm quite pissed off with myself...and after 'cleaning up', did I improve on my gouges/scratches etc etc? ?..only marginally, the jury is out on 2 new panels if the 'filler' don't work!.. That was last nights work up to a point, (breaking point!!)so it'll be back into the paint shop, same amount of masking and bagging, and then..the other side, now, see if we were allowed to swear, this would be unreadable!!!...........Dave

I can understand your frustration my friend, these things happen at times despite one's experience, but I've seen your work and I know there have been frustrating moments, but your end product will be something to behold, as usual, built by Dave.........Phil
