Thanks Anthony, you know it was yourself that inspired me to add them and i am glad i did, they give it an added dimension. I have run a wire to the very rear and I think i can get the stern lantern to light up too ;D I have a pic of the power plug connection- I think it has worked out well. Attachments:

I've been wondering if the stern lantern would be possible to light up as well. Only problem I have, is how to get the power feed to the lantern, knew I should have left some extra wires out the stern.

I managed to get 2 wires threaded through the bulkhead and wired in place to get some power toward the stern for the lantern. The lantern would have to be white or more probaly an oil lantern back then, so slightly yellowish. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navigation_light

Well done Anthony , I suppose a yellow led would do if its just a lantern light.I was thinking a piece of small brass tube to hold the lantern would also hide the wiring inside ! I am just finishing the hull planking right now. What an effort that was. I got glue all over my hands. ;D I cant feel my fingertips.

I have a gap in the middle because I kept the slices out far enough that there is some thing to sand back. I will have to add a bit extra in the middle.Yet another small detail that the kit makers have stuffed up.On the upside the hull is planked and ready to sand. I have to get some wood filler this weekend, I think I'm gunna need it. Attachments:

Hi Tony, wow thats a nasty gap in the middle of the bow. Did you see my post on page 3 of my diary, I had to fill in mine with extra pieces. Yeah I agree on the lantern, we may be able to just modify the one supplied by cutting out the unwanted frames and putting clear plastic in there. For the support; yeah like you said some brass tubing and bend it without crimping it (try inserting some insulated wire, snug fit, in the brass tube before you bend it that will prevent it crimping) should be able to run your wires to the LED. I think this model takes a lot of details from the AOTS. But the lantern in AOTS is wrong, the lantern in Ray Parkin's book is correct as is the replica because they look like the lantern in Parkinson's sketch. Cheers, Steve

Yes Steve ,I did see that a few were complaining about the bow fit before i got to it. So i knew there was trouble there. This was my solution.I simply kept the top of the pieces poking out so they would be in place for sanding( more meat) rather than large gaps on the faces leaving me short in the middle...... easier to fill in the resulting gap with wood.......... at least- thats the plan

You guys are successfully adding fuel to my procrastination......
I laid a plank or two on my Endeavour recently, and I think my work out in the cold shipyard contributed to my illness, so I'll wait till it warms up to start again, a top temp of 6 degrees at the moment, just lovely.........Phil

Yeah Phil, 6 degrees where do you live? You need a pot belly wood heater in your shipyard like I have. Steve
